Women of the Green Generation
READ MORE ABOUT:
At the Vancouver Peace Summit in September 2009, the Dalai Lama declared at "The world will be saved by the Western woman." The back story here is that according to a report by The Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute, “women owned small business owners will generate more than half of the 9.72 million new small business jobs expected to be created, and roughly one-third of the 15.3 million total new jobs anticipated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics by 2018”. That’s over 5 million new jobs across the U.S. by 2018, and not just business as usual, ala The Story of Stuff, but rather, business as it should be done...with the planet in mind.
According to The Guardian report, women are more likely to incorporate community and environment into their business plans. According to his Holiness, The Dalai Lama, “Some people may call me a feminist....But we need more effort to promote basic human values -- human compassion, human affection. And in that respect, females have more sensitivity for others' pain and suffering.” No offense guys. I know many compassionate, amazing men involved in environmental, social and humanitarian ventures who are kicking butt, but this article is for the women in the audience, and ladies, it’s time for us to show the world what we’ve got...starting with those attending the Women of the Green Generation Conference on June 12th, 2010.
Looking for a place to connect with like minded women in, or at least interested in, the business of saving the world? Then Women of the Green Generation (WOTGG) is for you. Founded by Kris Willey, WOTGG is a women’s networking group comprised of green business owners, eco innovators, writers, reporters, organic farmers, yogis, health and wellness practitioners, and environmentalists, from CEO’s to stay at home moms, dedicated to holding space for professional women involved in the "green" movement. The WOTGG mission is to inspire, educate, motivate, share resources, and connect with other individuals and organizations that are actively engaged in sustaining our planet and working towards positive transformation. On June 12th, WOTGG will host their First Annual Conference, featuring an impressive roster of well versed leaders in the green movement who will share their insights and expertise on a variety of green business topics including health and wellness; green beauty, eco fashion, business, environmental media and more.
No suffering through one long winded speaker after another, as you shift in your chair from cheek to cheek to avoid sleeping butt syndrome, while trying to appear actively engaged as you struggle to prop your eyelids open. Not only are all of the speakers for the WOTGG conference experts on their fields, motivational and engaging, guests will also get to enjoy live raw food demos, eco make-overs, and mini spa treatments courtesy of Green Bliss Eco Spa including organic facials, manicures, pedicures, chair massage, reiki and more.

The conference will be held at EVO, the only LEED silver certified eco luxury high-rise in down town Los Angeles. Where most sustainable business conferences, even the heinously boring ones, will set you back at least $500 to attend, WOTGG’s is a very affordable $50. Heck, we’d all pay more than that for the spa treatments alone! This is what you’ve been looking for my fellow female ecopreneurs. Go forth now and prosper.
