“The oceans need your help," Oceana says and to make a difference you simply need to "take the pledge. Be an Ocean Hero.” Making a pledge is as simple as heading over to Oceana's website, filling out your name, and clicking a button that says you agree to "help protect the oceans."
And that's when the magic happens. For every pledge made, Oceana gets a one dollar donation that they can use to fund their campaigns to preserve the world's oceans.
Once you have taken the pledge, you will have the opportunity to vote for one of the Ocean Heroes: Real people who have "made a significant, ongoing contribution to ocean conservation." Hundreds of people were nominated for the honor and Oceana's panel of expert judges narrowed the pool down to 11 candidates in two categories.
