You remember The Cove—the Academy Award-winning movie that exposed the dolphin slaughter in the Japanese town of Taiji.

The film not only shows how cruel the annual slaughter is, but also how much of this meat pawned off as (more expensive) whale meat. It also contains extremely high levels of mercury, so much so that Taiji residents were found to have mercury levels ten times the national average.

Well, movie theaters in Japan have been canceling screenings of the film, despite plans for it to be shown around the country. Louis Psihoyos, director of The Cove, responds here to these cancellations, pleading with Japanese viewers here to seek out the film despite this attempt at censorship.
