3 Easy Ways to Spread Your Eco Passion

One of the eco-friendliest things that you can do is to share your green knowledge and habits with friends. If you're cool about it, you can get a lot of info out there without feeling like a human encyclopedia, or an obsessive crusader. Try some of these friendly, positive ways to pursue fruitful green sharing with the people in your life who might not know or care as much about this stuff as you, a savvy Planet Green fan, do.

1. Share your enthusiasm, and enjoy how good it makes you feel to go green. When your friends see how much you like having eco-smart habits, they'll want to join in just because it looks like fun, not because it’s "good" or "noble" or "eco-something." Make your friends want to ask you about what you're doing, and they’ll be totally ready to listen when you answer with some eco-facts about why it's awesome.


2. If one green idea doesn't stick, just try another, and listen to the feedback you're getting about what people are and are not interested in doing. If your neighbor doesn't want to go vegetarian because he just really, really loves throwing slabs of meat on his barbeque, be ready with some alternative ideas that'll fit with his lifestyle. Suggest an organic barbeque sauce, or let him know how much fresher and tastier a side dish he'll have if he uses organic, local corn on the cob instead of greenhouse produce from the supermarket.


3. Make it easy for your friends to follow-up on green habits. For example, instead of nagging your friend about bringing his or her own reusable bags to the supermarket, give your pal a surprise, "Just Because We're Friends" gift of totally convenient and portable sustainable sacks. Take the work out of saving the planet for your buddies, so it's easy for them to join you on the road to a greener tomorrow.
