We write about coal ash a lot here at Planet Green, so I'll keep this one brief: the Sierra Club is asking people to support stronger regulations from the EPA on the toxic stuff that piles up at coal-fired power plants and harms the communities that have to live with it.
The EPA is currently holding a public comment period on proposed regulations that the coal industry is doing its best to prevent from passing.
The fate of the proposed regulations has a lot riding on it, and while they could certainly be stronger—especially if coal ash doesn't end up being considered hazardous waste—it is a crucial first step.
Anyone who's interested, check out the Sierra Club's call for support to help the EPA stand up to Big Coal.
