Discovery Education

Back in September we announced the first of its kind K-12 school curriculum based on teaching sustainability. It’s name? The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge sponsored by Discovery Education, The Siemens Foundation and the National Science Teachers Association.

Then, demonstrating that a green education could actually be fun, the challenge announced a contest encouraging middle schoolers and their adult supervisors to find a scientific solution to an eco-dilemma in their home community.

Now, we’re reminding parents and teachers that if you have some eco-curious young entrants in mind, it’s not too late to get them registered and in the running for some really cool cash and adventure-like prizes (Including a television appearance right here on Planet Green!). Though the contest is in its last legs as busy bees around the country hurry to put the final touches on their projects, the deadline isn’t until March 15, 2009.

Head over to the website now for rules and registration. While you’re there, check out the variety of kid-friendly, teacher-friendly resources like virtual interactive labs, an eco-footprint game, quizzes, online journals, video clips and more.
