December 8, 2009 marks 29 years since the death of John Lennon. Many of us still "wanna change the world" but unfortunately, we've yet to "give peace a chance." Maybe this year, on the sad anniversary of John's murder, we can begin taking steps to recall his message and the radical time period that helped create it. Today, when the word "revolution" is used to sell cars, it's hard to imagine how, well, revolutionary such a song could be. "The whole culture had been radicalized," says Tariq Ali, a leader of the 1960s student movement in Britain. "(Lennon) was engaged with the world, and the world was changing him."
