A lot of offices today are becoming increasingly paperless. People are slowly adapting to the digital world and relinquishing once held attachments to paper that no longer belong. But is your office reducing unnecessary paper waste in every way possible? Sending more emails is great and so is cutting back on printing, but here are some less obvious ways in which your office may still be more of an eco-offender than is necessary.

  1. Calendars. Why have them anymore? Most of us have got them on our computers and phones now.

  2. "New" toilet paper and paper towels. It's now easier than ever to buy toilet paper and paper towels made with recycled paper and it's hardly any more expensive.

  3. Paper cups. Discourage the use of paper cups! Everyone has got extra cups that can be brought into the office for permanent use.

  4. Scrap paper. Are you using scrap paper the way you could be? From notes in a meeting to sign-in sheets, scrap paper can be used so that a new sheet of paper isn't wasted.

Cutting back on the use of paper is a great advantage that the digital age has made easier for all of us. But before you assume you're covering all of the bases, think about the above. Can these changes be made to your office if they haven't been made already? Keep in mind, it's usually not that difficult to get management on board with money-saving green initiatives!
