Calling all would-be social entrepreneurs: Can you picture yourself running your own non-profit organization? You do exactly that in Karma Tycoon a free, online game by Do Something and JPMorgan Chase that puts you at the helm of a non-profit of your choice, including an animal shelter, a homeless shelter, and a performing arts center. Select the city you wish to be based in-Columbus is the beginner's level, while New York City is one of the advanced stages-and start building offices across the city. Every time you serve a person or an animal in the community, your karma-the game's point system-gets a boost.

Operating offices isn't cheap: You have to pay rent, utilities, and salaries, as well as outfit it with furniture and equipment. (If you're running an animal shelter, you have to drop cash whenever you purchase additional cages or when you spruce up your waiting-room area.) If you run out of dough, you can apply for a grant or get a loan. You can also charge everything to your credit card, but just as in real life, you'll be subjected to minimum monthly payments and interest. Bungle your finances and you could find yourself mired in debt faster than you can say "I thought this was escapist entertainment!" ::Karma Tycoon
