As Lloyd Alter pointed out in a post a few months ago, it's not hard to help the environment for under ten bucks. The same principle can be applied to trees. There are a variety of ways to grow trees without spending a lot of money. You can grow trees in your own backyard or you can help grow trees somewhere around the world, all for under ten dollars.

This is the old-fashioned way of growing trees. You may think that growing a tree from a seed takes a lot of TLC, and you're right. If you don’t have a lot of time, may I suggest the black walnut tree? It grows best when planted as a seed, and it's a faster grower. Founded in 1875, American Forests is the nation's oldest nonprofit citizen's conservation organization. For every dollar you donate to this organization, they will plant a tree. That's 10 trees for ten dollars. - Keep an Eye Out For Corporate Events
A Tweezer company offered to plant a tree with every 10 dollar purchase.
