Oh, the post-Xmas mess. I'm not sure how things go down in your home, but in mine, the pile of wrapping paper stays quaintly beneath the tree for an undisclosed amount of time each year...long after the gifts have been opened. Some families make conscious efforts to reuse their wrapping paper. But...lets face it: gathering up non-crinkled paper and storing it for another 11-12 months can be a bit of a process.
I have a different sort of suggestion: If there are any students in your life, suggest they use the paper to cover their text books. When turned inside out, most wrapping papers have a nice white base that not only makes for a solid book cover, but is easy to decorate. Moreover, some non-holiday designed papers make for great covering material-inside or out. (ie, the nice shiny silver or gold papers? Perfect!)
Be creative with reusing your wrapping paper this year. Whatever you do...don't just throw it out!
