Not everyone thinks of environmental sensitivity when they think of heavy rock music, but the two are matching more smoothly these days than ever before. Korn's frontman, Jonathan Davis, is helping pave the green path for heavy rockers.
Korn has partnered up with Music Matters' Sustainable Minded Artists Recording and Touring (SMART) program. Davis says, "As a touring band, it's our responsibility to start making a difference. We can't save the planet overnight, but this is our way of saying everyone has to start somewhere."
Korn's vehicles run on eco-friendly fuel. Their 'Very Best Of' cd comes in eco-friendly packaging.
Davis has commented that he worries about his kids' kids and wants Korn to do their part to set the wheels in motion to end our (collective) dependence on oil. These sentiments helped the band launch their own biofuel a couple of years ago, aptly named Korntastic. It's comprised of soy, corn, and other vegetable oils.
While no band is 100% green (what would that mean anyway?), Korn are certainly trying. Their tour dates can be found on Pollstar.
