If you've been wondering if companies in your town are keeping local people employed or if they've joined the exporting bandwagon, Working America has the tool for you.
Enter your zip code into Job Tracker and you can see what companies in your area are "exporting jobs, endangering workers' health or involved in cases of violations of workers' rights."
There are reportedly more than 400,000 companies nationwide registered in the database.
I tried my hometown, and found: 119 companies were reported as exporting jobs, 118 laying off workers, 855 companies warning of layoffs, 341 violating labor laws—and 10,381 with OSHA violations.

Check it out to see the breakdown in your own area. It's not just about jobs, or even just green jobs: keeping local jobs means keeping a local economy healthy. And when people source more things—from food to clothing—from local suppliers, they keep more income in the community, and they reduce emissions from transportation.
