Happy World Environment Day!
As mentioned yesterday, countries around the world are uniting to help fight climate change through the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) whole host of activities.
But there’s one other wonderful (may I add, free and don't-have-to-lift-a-finger) way to celebrate—especially fitting for a rainy day (like it is today, in Brooklyn) or an afternoon or evening this weekend. It’s the wordwide release of famous French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s high-budget documentary called Home.
Documented over the course of 217 days in 54 countries, narrated by Glenn Close in English (and Salma Hayek in Spanish), and edited by green gurus Al Gore and Lester Brown, the feature length film focuses on earth’s natural wonders and the ecological issues we face.
Airing simultaneously in over 100 countries, the film will be screened for free in open-air spaces, theaters, on TV and on the internet over at www.youtube.com/homeproject.
So pencil in an hour and a half of leisurely viewing time, prepare some homemade snacks, call over family and friends, kick back and tune in.
Then bask in the fact that you can unite with the world from the comfort of your own couch.
