Wondering which charities are most worth your donation this year? We know sometimes it's hard to justify giving green with so many atrocities and plights plaguing the world. It's just not as urgent, right? Wrong—change is needed now more than ever on countless eco-fronts. And giving to a green-guided charity just may be enough to help turn the tide.

Plus, many eco-oriented charities deal with issues as urgent as they come—take a look at the residents of Greensburg, who are living in FEMA trailers while they await a new home in a town that was leveled by a tornado. You can help speed up the process and ease the suffering of the Greensburgers by donating to the cause.

But there are a ton of fantastic green charities you can check out (and some exciting new ways of giving)—here's a couple to start with:

  • Environmental Defense Fund – This non-profit gets in green on the ground floor—with rigorous scientific study—and seeks to integrate its green findings into businesses and politics by working closely with corporations and politicians.

  • Environmental Working Group – Another non-profit organization, this one is dedicated to keeping the public informed and protected against environmental ails.
