Whether you're a student, a hobbyist, or a full-time professional writer, there are a number of things that you can do to green your scribbling. So follow these pointers to up your eco-friendly penmanship.

Use Eco-Friendly Pens
The first thing you'll want to do is green your writing utensil-and what better way to do that than picking up a pen made from at least 65 percent recycled materials, like these BeGreen pens. Or, pick up these biodegradable pens from Industries of the Blind to keep a plastic Bic out of the landfill.

Use Green Paper
Now that you've got your green pen, it's time to make sure the paper you write on is environmentally friendly. Typically, the best option in pursuing that end is finding recycled paper. How do you know which paper has been recycled? It should say on the packaging-if it's not obvious, look for the Forest Stewardship Council label.

Go Paperless
Of course, you could just get with the times and start doing your writing on the computer. Kidding—you most likely already do most of your writing in Word or the like, but there's absolutely no replacement for grabbing a pad and penning away from the screen from time to time. And that's why it remains important to make sure we pick up green paper goods and writing tools.
