Can't get your kids offline? Well at least you can ensure that they're doing something good for themselves and the planet. Enviroteens was created by 13-year-old Katy Short-Hamiwka because she wanted to make an eco-difference in her community. The ambitious teen wanted to find some way to get involved in the green movement and donating money just wasn't an option. Instead of giving up, she created EnviroTeens.com.
The site contains information about how to get involved in the green movement without tons of money. Teens can browse pages related to their interests, find volunteer opportunities, and get started. The Web site promotes opportunities that include helping animals, the rainforest, your community, and other children. Just pick a project and get volunteering.
Your teens can also learn directly from teens just like them. An array of teen-written articles cover green topics such as conservation, recycling, saving trees, preventing pollution, and keeping animals safe. Teens can also learn how to go green at school with tips on everything from carpooling to packing a lunch. Your teens can also keep in touch with other teens through the site's envirochat feature. If your teen does have some extra dough the site provides tons of direct ways to donate.
