Jack Johnson is the quintessential surfer dude gone rock. His laid-back attitude and charm just add to his contagious melodic music, but the singer spends a great deal of time concerning himself with more than just the west coast lifestyle. Jack Johnson is well-known for his green efforts.

His Kokua Hawaii Foundation was started to help support environmental education in the state. Through hands-on learning activities, the kids learn about their environment on the island and how to take care of it.

Jack Johnson does what he can to make sure that his tours are green, too. His backstage requests often include water efficient showers. He has a traveling chef on tour who uses fresh, local, and organic food . He works with a company called Reverb. The company helps musicians on tour green up their tour, generally speaking. He and his crew use aluminum water bottles, recycle all they can, use biofuel...and the list goes on.

Musicians like Jack Johnson are helping to make a bigger impact than we may suspect. Although thousands of fans in front of his stage don't see what green things go on backstage, the green message is still made clear through the steps each artist like Jack Johnson take in order to make sure their fans know that they care about the environment.

Keep your eye on Pollstar for Jack Johnson's tour dates and when he comes to town, rest assured that you can enjoy his concert with a clean green conscience.
