Green musicians are getting easier to find these days, but if it weren't for some green players in stadium-worthy bands helping pave the path toward the merging of music and environmental respect, the music industry would be much further behind in green issues than it is today. One of the biggest bands helping to chip away at the green path is a band you might have already assumed was green: Green Day. Believe it or not, their name didn't come from their love of the planet, but they voice their beliefs nonetheless.

Green Day have joined forces with The Natural Resources Defense Council with a 'Move America Beyond Oil' campaign under their belt. Additionally, the band has used YouTube to deliver their green message. On YouTube, the band discusses growing up next to oil refineries, the lack of clean water, over-logging, and being a part of the solution.

The concert schedule Green Day has coming up for 2009 is dense and if you live near a major city, it's safe to say you'll have an opportunity to see them live. Supporting Green Day live is a great way to have fun at a concert with a clean conscience; knowing you're supporting a band who wants to make a difference, but Green Day can't do it on their own. The fact that they hold green beliefs in their personal and professional lives doesn't mean that their live concert will be a green experience unless you do your part. Help make sure your concert experience is as green as it can be.
