In the lead-up to Earth Day, the Green Apple Festival mobilized volunteers in 10 cities around the country and rewarded them with free thank you concerts afterward. Lots of people got involved and the days of action across the country were a huge success. TreeHugger was there to document the activities in each city. Catch up on the action in the TreeHugger video archive from the event.

One of the highlights is an interview with Lisa Jackson, the new head of the EPA, who was at the event in Washington, DC. She joined actor Matthew Modine to introduce the headline musical act at the event: the Flaming Lips. She also commented on new program that will encourage kids and their families to be more eco-friendly, and an announcement made on Friday that the EPA will classify greenhouse gasses as air pollutants. Check out the interview on TreeHugger for more.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, TreeHugger founder Graham Hill helped with projects at the Koshland Park and Garden. The garden works with kids in the community to teach cooking and gardening basics while building a sense of respect and responsibility. Don't miss the interview with Nora Brereton, who helps run the Koshland Garden.
