The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is on the lookout for eco-minded interns—it's a great way to get your green career moving. EERE is among the most interesting governmental departments; as a division of the Department of Energy, it focuses on forging private/public energy standards by, (According to the EERE):
- Enhancing energy efficiency and productivity;
- Bringing clean, reliable, and affordable energy technologies to the marketplace; and
- Making a difference in the everyday lives of Americans by enhancing their energy choices and their quality of life.
As a volunteer, you'll assist with research, take on administrative duties, attend meetings and aid the staff with various projects. And you may find out firsthand what's being done to implement the top renewable energy technologies in the country.
In order to apply, you just need to presently be involved at least part time with some institution of learning—high schoolers to trade school workers to grad students are all welcome to apply. If you're in college, you'll likely be awarded credit for participating.
The EERE is one of the pioneering offices in new energy—this is a fine opportunity to become acquainted with the inner workings of a potentially vital institution.
