Show your gratitude the green way by sending post-holiday thanks that are as gentle on the planet as they are thoughtful towards your friends and family.
- Email Thank You Notes
Ditch the old-fashioned postal missive in favor of an email. You'll save the paper you would use for a card or letter, and you'll reduce your carbon footprint by conserving the fuel that would have been used in transporting and delivering your message. Writing a personal letter will make it feel as warm as a traditional card, and a thank you makes a nice surprise in a spam-filled inbox. - Skip Thank You Notes in Favor of Phone Calls
Making a phone call to say thanks is a great green solution, especially when you're reaching out to friends and family who aren't addicted to their email accounts. In many ways, giving someone a ring is much nicer than dropping them a note, because it gives you a chance to really make contact. Think of it as a chance to knock a thank-you obligation right out of the park, while getting a conversation with a loved one as a bonus. - DIY Thank You Note Postcards from Holiday Greeting Cards
When you've just gotta send a note the recipient can hold in his or her own trembling hand, go as green as possible, and give this year's holiday greeting cards new life as thank you postcards with what may literally be the easiest craft project in recorded history. Just cut a holiday card in half along its fold, and use the front half as a picture postcard. (The USPS guidelines call for postcards that are at least 3.5 x 5, the size of an index card, and no larger than 4.25 x 6. Most greeting cards are comfortably within that range, but when in doubt, give your card a quick measure just to be safe.) Now, all you have to do is write your message and the recipient's address on the blank back of the image, slap on some adequate postcard postage, drop it in the mail, and you're good to go. You've reduced waste, and shared some serious joy.
