If you work with kids, or have little ones of your own, consider spending Earth Day weekend learning how to get them outside and interested in nature. The Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment will be hosting the Connecting Children with Nature conference for interested parents and teachers. The event takes place on Saturday, April 18, and features a full day's worth of discussions of ways to get your kids outdoors and engaged with the environment.
Sessions will include a talk from Martin Ogle, chief naturalist for the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, on projects designed to get kids outdoors and a presentation from Elenor Hodges, director of Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment, on the areas outdoor and environmental education programs. Other workshops will focus on building an outdoor classroom, successful grant writing, and using school gardens to create learning experiences.
To get more information and a full schedule of events, visit the conference's website.
After a day at this conference, you will have all the tools and strategies you need to make the next day, and Earth Day itself, fun and engaging for your children.
