GreenHomeNYC is bringing a picture of "The New New York" straight to the streets of Brooklyn.
On Saturday, October 2, GreenHomeNYC will be hosting a block party in Carroll Gardens filled with help for people aspiring to greener or more DIY lifestyles: learn about composting or how to install and plant a green roof, how to prune street trees—or join the "ride-along" in a nearby brownstone and learn how to complete an energy audit.
Recycle-A-Bicycle will be there with demonstrations of bike repairs and if you have old bikes to get off your hands, they'll take donations of those, too.
The event itself will use biodiesel, compostable food containers (and provide compost bins for when you're done with them) and is asking vendors to present paperless options whenever possible.
If you have old electronics to get rid of, bring those as well—an e-waste recycling event will be held just around the corner. (Just be sure to check your items will be accepted before bringing them.)
