Foreclosures are not green. The last thing you want to do is forfeit a home you've invested your money and time into, right? But it seems like foreclosures are everywhere. Yuck. When homes are foreclosed, more hotels are rented out as interim living spaces. Many foreclosed homes don't sell and then they waste away. On top of it all, losing your investment isn't productive and, at the end of the day, it's just depressing.
If you're encroaching upon the gloomy line of foreclosure; you're stressed. And for all of the other reasons that giving up your home isn't green, your stress levels being raised doesn't help the problem whatsoever.
So now is the time to think. But thinking about what you can do to scrape up money so that you don't have to foreclose on your home can be difficult. Your resources are likely spent, your job right now is particularly frail—if you still have a job at all, and your time is probably precious. But there are actually green things you can do with your home and property that can generate cash.
Try some of these ideas below to scrape up what may be just enough money so that you can begin paying what's needed in order to not foreclose on your home. And you'll be doing it the green way.
- Sublet a room in your house.
This could be to a person needing living space or maybe a high school band that needs somewhere to practice. - Liquidate with a yard or garage sale.
You've probably got stuff around the house you don't need. Sell it! - Have an organic bake sale.
Get the ingredients together and bake away. People love desserts and your community just might be willing to help you out by buying these treats. - Rent out parking space.
There may be people in your town who don't have accessible parking spots the way you do. If you've got extra space, rent out some space for parking. - Rent out storage space.
People pay money each month everywhere to store their items. If you've got space, try giving this a shot. - Rent out garden plots.
If you've got land, take advantage of it! Lots of people in apartments don't have yards for gardens and just might want to rent out some of your land for gardening.
