4 Reasons to Attend the 2010 Veggie Pride Parade

1. Vegan = Green

The meat-based diet can result in unspeakable cruelty and devastating health consequences. As for the environment, how about deforestation, topsoil depletion, animal extinction, water pollution, and habitat loss for starters? Not to mention: According to a report from World Watch, animal byproducts are responsible for 32.6 billion tons of carbon dioxide per year, or 51 percent of annual worldwide human caused greenhouse gas.

3. Community

Tweets, texts, e-mails, and Facebook all play a role but nothing can ever replace face-to-face activism.

4. Be a Part of History

Union Square has been the site of countless protests, rallies, and demonstrations and that includes rabblerousing by the inimitable Emma Goldman.
