If you've got a dusty old collection of books you've never read and you'd like to have something else instead, this is your lucky day. You can repurpose old books even faster than you can read them. Check out these five fabulous ways to reuse everything from Dr. Seuss to Doctor Zhivago.

  1. Make some readable wallpaper. Take pages from the books you plan to discard and create great literary wallpaper. Post these passages all over you pad for decoration and inspiration.

  2. Wrap in a snap. Using book pages as wrapping paper gives your friends and family something to talk about and something to read.

  3. Fashion a fashionable journal. Use hardback book covers to hold your notes on life. Get appropriately sized paper and bind to the cover to have your most intimate thoughts look like literature.

  4. Build a book table. A few hardback books and a sturdy table top can make a great coffee table. Use a level to make sure your book legs are the same height. Heavy table tops can sit on the book legs without additional preparation. However, if you use something lighter, take the time to secure the table top with glue or nails.

  5. Make a batch of compost. Using old book pages to make compost is a great way to keep your garden green and your great literary works out of the landfill.
