Planet Green

Really Cool things.

Global warming is producing cool innovation. Some really cool things are happening around the world in response to climate changes and the desire to use our resources more efficiently.

In our episodes this year, we've had a chance to highlight some of my favorite new products on the market like the Belkin Smart Power strip with a remote control which I personally use, it's so much easier than going around our house and unplugging each and every non essential appliance. I'm always a big fan of Terracycle bags which we also featured on the show. I carry my Capri Sun Juice bag tote everywhere, and let me tell you , if you're single, it's better than J-date. I get an average of 8-10 strangers coming up to me asking where I got my bag every time I leave my house, definitely a great product and at $9.99 it costs $488 dollars less than my favorite Marc Jacobs tote.

Ghent with it. If you watch the show, then you know I often talk about how many resources it takes to produce beef and how if each of us consumed just 20 % less meat, it would have the same effect on carbon emissions produced by the US as everyone in the country switching to a hybrid vehicle. I don't make this stuff up, there is universal agreement amongst researchers that this is one way to way have a huge impact. I say this as someone who loves a steak. If if weren't so unhealthy, on top it, I would eat meat for breakfast lunch and dinner, so I've cut back and I don't want to be the only one, won't you join me? Honestly, it's not as hard as it sounds, and...leading the way is the city of Ghent in Belgium. One day a week, the city has gone veggie, its healthy and it's good for the planet, read about the story, I believe it's the first of such policies we're going to see enacted around the world so get ready, the soyvolution is coming.
