Sears Big Switch

A blog from Wa$ted's Annabelle Gurwitch:
This summer I’ve been shooting a webisode series sponsored by Sears called The Big Switch. Each episode is a spotlight on earth friendly activities taking place in cities around the country and the entire shoot is being off-set by Terrapass.
The project has allowed me to meet some inspiring people on the cutting edge of environmental activism, education and creation of green jobs. Sears has a goal of switching out 5 million old appliances for Energy Star qualified ones, which will be the equivalent of taking 600,000 cars off the road and as part of jump starting this effort, we’ve been donating appliances to some of these great groups.
I’ve been keeping a VLOG on my Flip camera which includes talks with Michael Dunham from Jaco Environmental who served on the UN committee to create the Kyoto protocol; Miquela Craytor, executive director of Sustainable South Bronx; and Lane Allison, class of 2008 Greensburg High in Kansas, after the tornado hit in 2007 he finished his education in a trailer before heading off to college. But wait there’s more! I’ll be adding new videos over the next weeks right here.
I hope you’ll stop in as part of the continued dialogue we’ve started with WA$TED.
