I couldn't be happier to be on Supper Club with Tom Bergeron, a brilliant format for bringing to public awareness some of the most critical issues of our time. It is a real privilege and pleasure to exchange viewpoints with fellow guests. We are all on the same continuum regarding the overarching need for environmental sustainability; we're just at different points on the curve, which guarantees lively debate coming from mutual respect. The fantastic vegan meal by Chef Ann Gentr and the provocative way Tom guided us made the evening a lot of fun and I trust, valuable to viewers.
My husband, Bill Twist and I are the co-founders or more accurately, the "Foundees" of a unique partnership between indigenous people of the Amazon, particularly the Achuar of Ecuador & Peru, and people of the modern world or the "North." This partnership is expressed through the work of The Pachamama Alliance based in San Francisco, California and Quito, Ecuador, where we are living this year.
I am honored to bring the message of The Pachamama Alliance to a broader audience through Supper Club with Tom Bergeron. Our two-fold mission is:
- To preserve the Earth's tropical rainforests by empowering the indigenous people who are its natural custodians
- To contribute to the creation of a new global vision of equity and sustainability for all.
The way we are doing the latter is via media-intensive, half-day Symposiums now offered worldwide called, "Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream." The Achuar indigenous leaders told us from our first encounter nearly 14 years ago that this is our primary work, as we stand shoulder to shoulder with them in support of their work as stewards to preserve the rainforest - their home and the lungs of the planet for all of life.
The mission of the Symposium is to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on the planet as the guiding principle of our time.
Please visit our website for a listing of upcoming Symposiums in your local area: www.pachamama.org or www.awakeningthedreamer.org.
Empowering all people of the world to transform peacefully is the deep knowing that there is enough to go around and that we are enough . In my book, The Soul of Money, Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life, this is what I call the "radical, surprising truth of sufficiency." This insight came from 20+ years as the executive in charge of fundraising worldwide for The Hunger Project. I have literally raised hundreds of millions of dollars over the last 30 years to eradicate global poverty and hunger. I invite you to read my book, which is available through Amazon.com and to visit my website, www.soulofmoney.org.
I hope the show is empowering and entertaining, and that it motivates you to have your own Supper Club dialogue with those you love.
With love,
Lynne Twist
