About Stuff Happens with Bill Nye

Mon Jun 02, 2008 11:47 PM ET

Where does all our stuff come from? No matter where we are or what we're doing, when we make stuff... stuff happens. On his new show Stuff Happens, acclaimed "Science Guy" Bill Nye explains to viewers what happens when we use stuff, where it goes when we're through with it, and what impact it all has on the environment and the entire planet. Whether it's in manufacturing, use, or disposal, all our stuff affects all our lives and the health of the Earth.

Stuff Happens examines the everyday stuff of our lives, and the far-reaching effects our actions have on the planet. From cashmere sweaters causing dust storms in China, to American pig farmers inadvertently aiding the global collapse of anchovy fisheries, Stuff Happens explores the surprising twists and unintended consequences of all the stuff in our lives.

This exciting half-hour series engages the viewer with astonishing information, easy-to-follow science, lighthearted demonstrations, expert interviews and connective story-telling to amplify growing problems in the environment and important solutions we can all take to make things better. With trademark good humor, Bill Nye helps viewers get a grip on big topics and presents positive, upbeat solutions to the critical problems facing us all.

Interviews will include experts from the Union of Concern Scientists, the Natural Resource Defense Council, Reef Check and the Surfrider Foundation, along with many other industry and environmental personalities.

Each themed episode of this 13-part series uses state-of-the-art graphics, madcap experiments and a spectrum of colorful field locations to explore green topics in commonplace settings such as the Bedroom and the Attic, at Breakfast and at Dinner. When Bill Nye reveals the hidden secrets of everyday items such as toothpaste, paper and suntan lotion, viewers will see for themselves that when we make stuff... "Stuff Happens!"
