Is your morning bacon killing penguins? Find the answer to this and other questions like it on Stuff Happens with Bill Nye.

The premiere episode, "Breakfast," explores the origins of popular breakfast foods like bacon and coffee, and asks how they get to your table and what the ecological impact of these processes is. If the U.S. consumes 2 million pounds of bacon in a year, which it turns out it does, what is the larger impact of that bacon, besides an ever-increasing waistline? What footprint do your two daily, weekly, monthly slices of bacon leave?

"Breakfast" asks the same questions about coffee, demystifying popular questions like "What is fair trade coffee?," and revealing why it matters if you buy it or not. How far does the average cup o' joe have to travel to get to you, and which country is the best to buy it from?

What's wrong with orange juice from frozen concentrate? What's the second most traded commodity on the earth (hint, you have it for breakfast, and after lunch, maybe after dinner) and how does this impact your wallet, health and environment?

Behind every breakfast is a long eco-story and Bill Nye, in characteristic quirky fashion, makes learning about the science of our everyday lives engaging, easy-to-understand, and actionable—he'll offer viable alternatives to the less eco-friendly breakfast options so you can still have a delicious breakfast, even one with bacon.

And yes, your morning bacon is probably killing penguins.
