This morning on CBS' The Early Show, which is being shot from Greensburg, KS this week, Maggie Rodriguez caught up with Steve Thomas, host of "Renovation Nation." The two toured the home of Farell Alison; his is called the greenest home in Greensburg. It's just one of the many eco-friendly houses being built here.

Steve explained how, with the use of Styrofoam forms, concrete and reinforcing rods, a home would have a bigger eco-footprint from the outset due to the use of Styrofoam, but because of the durability, extreme insulation and energy efficiency, it makes up for it over time. Alison's home is so well insulated, that it requires a heat-preserving ventilation system to bring in fresh air from the outside.

Steve says although about 10 to 15% more expensive to construct, a home built this way will last 100 years. Check out the video for yourself, provided by CBS News.
