Renovation Nation Experiences the Coldest Production Ever

It even snowed on us in Texas.

Steve Thomas is the host of Planet Green's Renovation Nation, a program that focuses on making green renovations to homes across the country. In his regular column on PlanetGreen.com, Steve goes behind the scenes of the show and offers additional tips and insight on green renovation.

When we renovated the historic house in Little Compton, Rhode Island, it was dead winter and brutally cold. In terms of the whole season, that's when the cold found us and that's when the cold followed us. The cold was unrelenting. It followed all the way through the year, even into Texas.

You wouldn't think that Texas would be cold. But it even managed to snow there. People said stuff like "Oh, it's never snowed here" and "This is the first snow we've seen in twelve years." We just have had nothing but cold weather the whole time.

The only place that the cold didn't follow us was into Hawaii. I can't imagine how I would have felt had it snowed on us in Hawaii. But I know it would have been a real bummer.
