With a degree in aeronautics, a knack for creative invention and design, and a deep appreciation of nature, Jem Stansfield knows how to put his engineering skills to work for the planet.
In Wild Thing I Love You, Jem worked with wildlife experts to come up with solutions for situations where humans were exerting too much pressure on nature and kicking the ecosystem out of whack. Together, they designed ways to restore the balance. He was an on-screen ballistics expert for the television show Scrapheap Challenge, invented kids' dream gadgets on ITV's Home On Their Own, was behind the machines and experiments on BBC2's Science Shack, was an engineer on Zero to Hero, and invented machines on Men in White to solve problems that people from the public would call in with.
He has created special effects for movies like Lost in Space, The Avengers and Van Helsing. He is a surfer, has lived the shepherding life in outback Australia, and has taught children in a rural Czech school. Jem clearly knows how to get around and now, watch Planet Mechanics to follow him around Europe as he and Dick Strawbridge engineer solutions for the planet's most pressing problems.
