READ MORE ABOUT:
Dick Strawbridge served in the British army for more than 20 years, during which time he traveled the world and built up some of the most handy and impressive problem-solving and engineering skills you'll see on television. He appeared on the first-ever Scrapheap series and has now made 19 episodes of Scrapheap Challenge and Junkyard Wars. In some, he can be seen working with his brothers doing what they do best, creating contraptions you'd never expect but will leave you impressed and wanting more! He recreated some of the most innovative inventions of war on Crafty Tricks of War, and was key to the BBC team that covered, and celebrated, the 60th anniversary of D-Day.
Dick demonstrated his technical skills in Geronimo as he builds some of the wackiest machines around. He likes to cook, write poetry and keep bees, and his green aspirations will soon be the focus of a new BBC-commissioned series.
Follow Dick this season on Planet Mechanics as he and Jem Stansfield engineer solutions for the planet's most pressing problems.
