Global warming, deforestation, overfishing, and pollution are just a few of the many threats to wildlife around the world. More often than not, the pressures that push a species to the brink of extinction, and beyond, are the result of human activity. However, humans also have the power to help endangered animals and even save species from extinction.
Planet Action, a collaboration between Animal Planet and the World Wildlife Federation, follows a group of amateur environmentalists as they struggle through a series of diverse eco-challenges. The group, with members hailing from the United States, Sweden, Vietnam, Venezuela, Australia, Brazil, and the UK, will be forced to work under the pressure of tight deadlines and limited budgets. Their only hope for success is to overcome personal differences and work together.
A team of experts from the WWF serve as mentors for the group as they struggle with uncomfortable conditions and the challenges of field work. Projects include helping to save endangered turtles and planting trees in the rainforests of Borneo.
