FWC: BACK IN ACTION

Premiering Friday, November 5 at 9 pm

    FWC Dispatch gets thousands of calls each year and it’s their job to match every call with the best officer for each particular incident. So, when they get a call about a cunning 8-foot long crocodile that is terrorizing a family and its pets, it’s officer Erik Steinmetz and his 22-years of experience that they send.

    OIL IN WATER

    Premiering Friday, November 5 at 9:30 pm

      The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is one of the worst environmental disasters in U.S. history. The FWC is at the forefront of this fight against the destruction of Florida’s fragile eco-system. Officer Dana Klein is deployed to the region from her Jacksonville beat in order to help locate the affected areas.

      LOBSTER MOBSTERS

      Premiering Friday, November 12 at 9 pm

        Worldwide Lobster harvesting is a billion dollar industry and the Florida Keys are one of the Meccas for it. For two days in July each year, Florida allows anyone with a fishing license to harvest 6 lobsters per day as part of its Lobster Mini-Season. But 23-year veteran officer Jimmy Johnson knows from experience that when it comes to lobster, people sometimes can’t control themselves and ignore the laws there to protect them.

        ROBO-DEER

          Conserving Florida’s animals and wild is the number 1 priority of the FWC and its officers. Although deer are not an endangered species in Florida, they must be protected by the FWC like any other animal because even out of season, the general population hunts them.

          ROOKIES ON PATROL

          Premiering Friday, November 19 at 9 pm

            Being an FWC officer is one of the most difficult law enforcement jobs in the world. Not only must they know all the laws and regulations that local, state, and federal officers must know, but also understand the laws of thousands of animals.

            TIMING IS EVERYTHING

              On any case they make, FWC officers know that timing is everything. Knowing when to move in to make an arrest or exactly how much time they have to get an injured animal to help before it expires is often the key to a call’s success.

              SIZE DOESN'T MATTER

              Premiering Friday, December 10 at 9 pm

                Officers in the FWC come in all shapes and sizes. In this highly trained world of policing, size truly doesn’t matter. Case in point, 5'8" officer Officer Tommy Van Trees who is headed to his next call – a reported rattle snake in someone’s home. A self-admitted snake scaredee cat, Officer Van Trees arrives on scene only to find out that for this snake at least, size matters quite a bit.

                DEEP UNDERCOVER

                Premiering Friday, December 17 at 9 pm

                  The everglades are home to hundreds of thousands of alligators that must live in very close proximity to millions of Floridians. Unfortunately, one of the things that fails to keep the alligator-human harmony in the glades is alligator feeding. Recently, the FWC has had several reports of airboat tour captains feeding the local gator population in order to draw the animals closer and improve their tours.

                  WILD GOOSE CHASES

                    In her 8-year career, Officer Dana Klein has chased down suspects and animals of all shapes and sizes, but there is one creature in Florida’s wild she has never caught before and it’s now staggering around a Jacksonville park with an injured leg… a Canadian Goose. For almost three hours, this notoriously unpredictable bird leads Officer Klein on the biggest wild goose chase of her career.

                    TIS' THE GATOR SEASON

                      Alligator hunting season is one of the most anticipated and dangerous hunting seasons in the state. While Officer Clinton Bean works the boat docks of a local lake to make sure that the hunters follow the rules and regulations of the hunt, his attention turns to a suspicious car that parks in the lot next to the dock. He and his partner sneak up on the car to investigate – surprisingly it’s not an alligator hunter they find inside.

                      THE ART OF THE SEARCH

                        With one of the largest air enforcement units in the state of Florida and the ability to work in all terrains, FWC officers are experts in the art of search and rescue, having saved over 5,000 people in the last five years. So when a hiker goes missing deep in a national park, Officer Clinton Bean and his team use helicopters, swamp buggies, ATV's and K-9 units to try to track and save him.

                            Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers face many of the same dangers that most police officers do, with one exception: the majority of people they deal with are armed—from fisherman with knives and spear guns to hunters carrying handguns and rifles. So when one of their own officers is shot and nearly killed out in the field, everyone is on high alert.

                              There are thousands of large captive animals in Florida and it's the FWC's job to monitor the care of them all. On his way to one of these captive animal calls, Officer Bean unexpectedly gets called to rescue "man's best friend" from speeding cars and semi-trucks on the busy Alligator Alley freeway.

                                It's the FWC's job to protect the safety and well-being of both the state's citizens and its vast resources. On the outskirts of the Everglades, Lt. Bingham demonstrates this first-hand when he puts himself and his team in danger to catch a group of people feeding alligators. Down on the shores of the Florida Keys, Officer Izsak races her 26-foot vessel to rescue a stranded couple from the ocean... and each other.
