Ed Begley, Jr. says that people who call themselves environmental activists draw a line in very different places. Some people, well, they do what they can. And there's other people, like Ed, who draw the line at a very different place.
An environmental activist since 1970, Ed has received some of the most prestigious awards from recognized environmental groups, such as the California League of Conservation Voters, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Coalition for Clean Air, Heal the Bay and the Santa Monica Baykeeper. Among the many groups he has served include the Environmental Media Association, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, the Thoreau Institute, the Earth Communications Office, Tree People and Friends of the Earth.
Ed's wife, Rachelle Carson Begley, is an actress and Pilates instructor. Her television credits include NYPD Blue and 8 Simple Rules. She married Ed on August 23, 2000, and has been working on green living with daughter Hayden ever since.
Ed and Rachelle currently reside in a self-sufficient home near Los Angeles. The house is powered by solar energy, although as viewers will see, the Begley house has seen its share of cloudy days. But in this eco-friendly household, the love of family and the environment always shines through.
