Recycle Oil

This year, the Indy 500 has a need for green. Don't worry, they'll keep the speed - they're just promoting eco-friendly automotive practices too. And a major one of those is responsibly recycling your used motor oil. The first step in your auto oil education should be logging on to the American Petroleum Institute's Used Motor Oil website. According to the site, If you recycle just two gallons of used oil it can generate enough electricity to run the average household for almost 24 hours.

If you change your own motor oil, make sure to bring it to your local collection center afterwards. Earth 911, along with being an incredibly helpful environmental directory service also offers a host of other auto related services worth checking out. Or, if you have a little disposable income ($48,000!!) you can pick up this innovative invention from the Japanese Fuji Energy company that converts used engine oil to waste oil.
