Karen is lively, fun and larger than life woman with a penchant for hapless hoarding that has left her crying out for more space in her sizeable six-bedroom house! Six years ago after her marriage fell apart Karen made the brave decision to uproot her three children and relocate to the bright lights of Blackpool, England for a fresh start. Having bought a six-bedroom former bed and breakfast she thought there would be no way that they would ever run out of space, but now the unthinkable has happened.
Karen is a collector by nature, and she believes she inherited this trait from her mother. Every nook and cranny of Karen’s home is brimming with trinkets & glassware, cherished bears and Tupperware. Even the hallway is lined with 10 mirrors, and the more you delve beneath the surface of Karen’s home the more collections you find.
With three growing teenagers living in the house, Karen is rapidly running out of room and has decided something has to give. Karen longs to redecorate but at present, you can’t see most of the surfaces, let alone get at them with a paintbrush. So as hard as it will be, it is finally time for the Rumsey household to clear out.
Nominated by best friend Malcolm, who finds the Gutted process almost as emotional as Karen, this emotional journey will test her to the limit… and leave her with the ultimate decision: to take the money raised at auction, or to take her old life back…
