In the Greensburg episode "Special Anniversary", Pastor T.J. Lawson, his wife Julie, and a group of volunteers start a community garden in hopes of bringing the community together. Town residents and volunteers are building the beds and getting the plots ready for growing produce. When it's complete each of the group will have a plot to grow their garden in.

Julie Lawson believes the community garden is a great way to show that going green can start with little small meaningful steps. Taking small steps toward sustainability can make things less overwhelming.

"Change is always difficult for people, like fear of the unknown and not knowing what going green and sustainability really means," says Julie Lawson. "But you don't have to tear down your house and rebuild. There are little things you can do too."

The pastor remarks that he already feels close to members of the community. And he believes the community garden may bring them even closer. Not to mention bringing a little more fresh, local produce to the dinner table!
