Meet Greenovate Flipper Chris Prelitz
On Greenovate, Chris Prelitz, a real estate investor and professional green consultant, is determined to show people the light. He has purchased a 1600 square-foot, two bedroom, two bathroom house in Laguna Woods, California for $460,000 and plans to not only transform it into a model solar-powered home, but also flip it for a profit. However, it's not long before Chris encounters resistance from the local homeowners association and he begins to realize that his green vision may require a lot more "green" than he had anticipated.
Chris owns Prelitz Design and is an expert in the area of high performance solar building. He built the first permitted solar electric powered home in Orange County in 1994. Chris works with numerous green boards in Orange County, and he teaches workshops and seminars about green living and energy efficient building techniques. When flipping, he always includes active and passive solar energy systems, such as operable skylights and vents, high performance doors and windows, and solar panels. He strives to always be green in his construction as well, recycling old materials and using low/no VOC interior finishes (paints and plasters) in his flips, turning older homes into green homes while putting some green in his pocket as well.
