On a recent episode of G Word I discovered how discarded mannequins can be reused. That segment prompted folks to ask Waste Sleuth a lot of questions about finding mannequins. OK – here's the deal – good stuff is tossed out all of the time – everyday. I know that might sound wrong and even crazy – but it's true. The good news is that we all have options and there are many companies that want your stuff and want you to know they exist.

Maybe you have a secret desire to have a mannequin of your own? Well you can - the company I visited on G Word is called Mannequin Madness and they sell used mannequins. And with a little internet research you will discover there are several companies that also sell those silent figures.

Don't be shy – ask someone at a local store with mannequins if they are planning on disposing of their mannequins any time soon. I discovered that many stores will periodically replace mannequins in order to maintain a "fresh" look in their shop. So, who knows? You could have good timing and might get lucky - and get to take a mannequin home!

Lastly, there are online resources for "good stuff" – one source is Freecycle where folks can ask for what they are looking for and others can offer stuff they no longer want or need. This site is a great resource for just about anything – I find it fun just to read the listings – its amazing what people have and are willing to give away to a good home.

Have a question? Curious about how to properly dispose of something? Well then- Ask the Waste Sleuth! Send your query to AskWasteSleuth@WasteSleuth.com and maybe the Waste Sleuth will answer your question and post it on the Planet Green website.
