In this exclusive online clip from G Word, Summer Rayne Oakes joins a group of researchers as they track down and follow clumps of trash on their way to the "trash vortex." Starting off the coast of Los Angeles, trash in the water travels hundreds of miles to eventually join the vortex, a massive collection formed by the currents of the Pacific Ocean.

The problem is explained by the captain of the Alguita, who has spent the past 10 years studying the movements of trash in the Pacific Ocean. Summer helps the crew analyze the water, revealing some shocking results.

How severe is this problem? What can we do to help? Watch this clip from G Word to find out.
