David Newsom's manly meet and greet with Jonathan Goodwin, the brain trust behind biodiesel muscle cars, made us think of the ladies out there.
How many of you are getting the all-too-frequent eye-roll from your male mate when you remind him to buy organic (he hears more expensive) or bring the canvas bag (he sees a sign of weakness)?
We thought it would be fun to infuse some testosterone into green for the guys who shrink from all things green. For best results, insert these points into your next casual convo with your main male squeeze:
"Patagonia has been making fleece garments from recycled plastics since 1993. Don't professional mountain climbers wear that brand to protect themselves from avalanches and stuff?"
"Have you heard of the triple bottom line? It's the balance of economic, social and environmental success. Think three Ps: Profit. People. Planet - pretty much the cornerstones of sustainability. There's a lot of money in the green economy - it's good for the country!"
"Organic food is so much healthier then non-organic. There's more nutritional value in food that's free of artificial ingredients and preservatives. If more people ate organic, maybe the country's health insurance rates would go down."
"Did you hear about the environmentally-friendly poker table that's going to be debuted at the World Series of Poker? Very cool. The winner gets to take one home."
Last but not least, remind him that sustainability is simply sexy. Brad. Leo. Adrian. All one man green machines we love!
