We live in an extraordinary time. Palpable changes in the planet are inspiring radical shifts in thinking, and every dire revelation is met with a jaw dropping innovation.
I?m David Newsom and I come to G Word via filmmaking, photography, acting and most importantly, a life-long obsession with the natural world. I'm an avid surfer, hiker, backpacker and mountain biker, and the outdoors has always been my church.
As a kid growing up in New Jersey, I was far more interested in hunting spotted salamanders and box turtles than, say, baseball, and that pretty much holds true today. This of course, makes me extremely boring at barbeques, but useful when it comes to figuring out if the snake on the hiking trail could be an issue with the dogs.
With 25 years of experience on both sides of the camera in the film and television industry, I see myself as a storyteller, and the stories that interest me most are the stories about innovators--and their innovations--who are taking on the greatest challenges facing humanity right now, and offering up inspiring and potentially game-changing new possibilities.
What I aim to do in this Planet Green blog is expand on what we'll see on my segments of G Word and give people a way to jump in on the conversation, connect up directly with the inventors when possible, and keep the conversation growing. The world, after all, is created with words.
