Daniel Sieberg joined CBS News as the network's science and technology correspondent in December 2006. He contributes to the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, the CBS Early Show, CBS Sunday Morning, CBS Radio and CBSNews.com. Sieberg has reported on everything from climate change in the Arctic to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to Burning Man in Black Rock Desert. His recent story subjects have included internet addiction, sensory devices for the blind, futuristic home inventions, computer forensics, solar flares, electronic voting, high-tech prosthetic limbs, e-waste, online politics, video game trends, and cyber bullying. Sieberg also covers NASA-related events. He writes a regular blog called Tech Talk for CBSNews.com and contributes personal technology stories to Oprah.com.

Previously, Sieberg was CNN's technology correspondent (2001-06) and host of Next@CNN (2004-06), covering many technology-related issues including identity theft, privacy, security, hacking, gadgets and video games. His stories aired on Anderson Cooper 360, Paula Zahn Now, American Morning and The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. Sieberg was part of the CNN Headline News morning show with Robin Meade from late 2001 to early 2004 when he anchored a daily segment called Hot Wired. He also worked as the CNN.com science and technology editor/writer (2000-2003) and helped lead the CNN.com investigative unit after September 11, 2001. In addition, while at CNN Sieberg reported extensively on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, covered two live shuttle launches (including one affected by Tropical Storm Ernesto), and hosted a weekly segment on CNN Radio called Computer Connection.
Before joining the cable channel Sieberg was a daily reporter for The Vancouver Sun newspaper (1998-2000) writing about civic issues, local businesses and technology. He also worked as an associate producer for VTV's On The Edge with Robert Mason Lee and as an on-air video game reviewer for CTV Vancouver (1999-2000). Sieberg's articles have been published in Time magazine, The Toronto Star, and Salon.com, and he has contributed to PBS's Frontline, NPR, BBC Radio, Fuse.tv, Court TV and Animal Planet.
Sieberg contributed to CNN's Emmy Award-winning documentary, Enemy Within (2002) and received the Peabody Award for Significant & Meritorious Achievement in Broadcasting and Cable for his role in CNN's coverage of Hurricane Katrina (2005). In 2000 he was the recipient of the Rafe Mair Award for Excellence in Journalism for a personal story about being hacked. From 2004-2006 Sieberg was the co-host of the World Technology Awards in San Francisco, and in October 2007 Sieberg hosted the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineer Awards (SMTPE) Awards in Brooklyn. In 2007, Portfolio magazine named Sieberg as one of "Business Broadcasting's All-Stars."
A regular speaker and moderator at such events as the NetMedia conference in London (2001), the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2004, and the Ziff Davis Gaming Summit (2006), Sieberg has attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Comdex, E3, DEMO, the Webbys, DefCon, World Technology Network, and NetWorld+Interop. His eclectic mix of interview subjects includes Bill Gates, Hugh Hefner, Kevin Mitnick, Steve Wozniak, Tony Hawk, Peyton Manning, Curt Schilling, Doug Liman, Paula Abdul and Will Wright.
Sieberg has traveled extensively throughout 45 states (including Alaska and Hawaii), seven Canadian provinces and one territory, Japan, Russia, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Mexico, Anguilla, Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Bart's, and Australia.
Sieberg was born in Richmond, British Columbia. He was graduated from the University of Victoria in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts (writing, film) and received a master's degree in journalism from the University of British Columbia in 2000. Sieberg is married and lives in New York City.
