What do Prince Charles, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Harrison Ford, and Kermit the Frog have in common?
A mission to help save the world's rainforests. The eclectic yet influential group has teamed up to deliver the latest sign-up campaign video in support of Prince Charles' Rainforest Project (PRP).
The Prince of Wales founded the project in 2007 as a response to the dire climate change reports issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Working with politicians, business leaders, and non-profit organizations, his plan is to halt tropical deforestation in its tracks by spreading awareness and identifying incentives that will help sway rainforest nations to economically develop without the need to chop down trees. The reason for doing so it summed up best by Prince Charles in his poignant campaign video:
Climate change is the greatest threat facing mankind. Every year, destruction of the earth?s rainforest releases more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than all of the world?s cars, planes and ships put together. We must act now. Future generations are depending on it.
Though the Prince is largely drawing upon his rich Rolodex of heavyweights (hey, not everyone can ask the Dalia Lama to appear in their video) for support, he?s also urging us eco-savvy citizens to help thwart climate change through the online and interactive portion of his project, RainforestSOS.org. Take action by:
- Clicking over to the website and signing up. By simply entering in your e-mail and name, you'll be showing the world's rainforests some love.
- Helping spread awareness—and have fun doing it. Sign up to make your own campaign video or message to send to friends and family.
- Becoming an official supporter. If you work in either the business, non-profit or educational sector, learn how you can join the cause.
