On the seventh anniversary of 9/11, Bob Woodruff and the Focus Earth eco-news team investigate the role that climate change may play in U.S. national security, look at how a political power figure is stepping up to the challenge, and bring you the facts on how New York City is rebuilding with a greener skyline. Plus, the latest on Hurricane Ike, the Texas evacuations, and extreme weather across the United States.

First, Focus Earth investigates the impact that global warming could have on U.S. National Security. As sea levels rise across the, the countries most vulnerable to the encroaching waves could become sources of worry, as the tides help create new potential for terrorism. Bob and the team look at whether the United States, the second largest overall emitter of greenhouse gases, could be blamed, or possibly targeted, by nations suffering the effects of climate change.

Then, the team takes a look at how solutions to climate change are coming from a politician who took charge in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. Former Republican Gov. George Pataki of New York, who was in office on 9/11, has emerged as a leading figure in battling the global ecological crisis, and this week's episode will explore his strategies and consider what the United States can do to itigate the effects of climate change worldwide.

Also stepping up to bat at the eco-plate are the citizens of the Big Apple. Although rebuilding on the site of the Twin Towers is over budget and behind schedule, leaving a still-striking gap in the Manhattan landscape, the city is finding other new directions for its famous skyline. We'll take a look at the exciting new green buildings popping up across Manhattan, leading the way for construction to begin on the new, green World Trade Center.

Meanwhile, as thousands evacuate from Texas, Hurricane Ike swirls over the Gulf Coast. The Focus Earth team has the latest updates on that system, and more on how the extreme weather of year's storm season is hitting the United States.
